Sunday evening...with sonnet

If I were in love, as desired to be
What should I fear--if I were loved by you
Come hell or heavenly eternity
Be worth the wait and effort to pursue
All inward disappointment and outward pain
I'd count in life's ledger less than those fine
And your affections more my goal to gain
Clearly love would cleave close if you were mine
While alive and warm, let us be as not
Cool cautious in love's resolve to blend
Two hearts and souls into one passion hot
What I have wanted for our story's end
Love is the greatest gift of earth's treasure
One hopes to find and give most in measure
